Devendra Jhajharia

  • Devendra Jhajharia (born 10 June 1981) is an Indian Paralympic javelin thrower competing in F46 events.
  • The first Indian Paralympian to win two gold medals at the Paralympics, he won his first gold in the javelin throw at the 2004 Summer Paralympics in Athens, becoming only the second gold medalist at the Paralympics for his country.
  • At the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, he won a second gold medal in the same event, bettering his previous record. Devendra is currently being supported by the GoSports Foundation through the Para Champions Programme.

Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore

  • Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore AVSM (born 29 January 1970) is an Indian politician and a former professional shooter.
  • As a shooter, competing in the double trap event, he won a silver medal in the 2004 Olympic Games. In a career spanning over a decade, he also won multiple medals at the Commonwealth and Asian Games.
  • He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2005.
  • Rathore served as a commissioned officer in The Grenadiers regiment of the Indian Army before retiring in 2013 as a colonel.
  • Following his retirement from the Army and shooting, he became the member of the parliament for the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2014.
  • In November 2014, was made the Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting.
  • Rathore was appointed as a Cabinet minister with independent charge for Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in 2017

Salim Aziz Durani

  • Salim Aziz Durani (born 11 December 1934) is a former Indian cricketer who played in 29 Tests from 1960 to 1973. An all-rounder, Durani was a slow left-arm orthodox bowler and a left-handed batsman famous for his six-hitting prowess.
  • He is the only Indian Test cricketer to have been born in Afghanistan.
  • Durani was the hero of India’s series victory against England in 1961–62. He took 8 and 10 wickets in their wins at Kolkata and Chennai, respectively.
  • Also, a decade later, he would be instrumental in India’s victory against the West Indies at Port of Spain, taking the wickets of Clive Lloyd and Gary Sobers.

 

  • In his 50 Test innings, he made just the one century, 104 against the West Indies in 1962. He played for Gujarat, Rajasthan and Saurashtra in first-class cricket. He made 14 hundreds in first-class cricket in which he managed 8545 runs at 33.37.
  • He appeared in the film Charitra with Parveen Babi in 1973.
  • He was the first cricketer to win an Arjuna Award.
  • He was awarded the C.K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award by the BCCI in 2011

Surendra Kumar Kataria

  • Surendra Kumar Kataria is a former basketball player from India who represented India at many international competitions.
  • He was awarded Arjuna award in 1973. He was born in Bhilwara Rajasthan state and represented Indian Railways in national tournaments.
  • It should also be mentioned here that he was a sharp-shooter in the true sense of the word, and Indian basketball has not seen such a shooter in all its history.

Some of Kataria’s key achievements:

  • Represented India in the 5th Asian Basketball Championship at Bangkok (Thailand) in 1969.
  • Represented India in the 1st Youth Asian Basketball Championship held at Seoul (South Korea) in 1970.
  • Represented India in the 10th Anniversary of Asian Basketball Championship at Manila (Philippines) in 1970 and won the Bronze Medal of ABC.
  • Represented India in the 6th Asian Games held at Bangkok (Thailand) in 1970.
  • Represented India in the 7th Asian Basketball Championship held at Manila (Philippines) in 1973.
  • Selected for Asian team in 1973 during the 7th Asian Basketball Championship held at Manila.
  • Declared SECOND TOP SCORER OF ASIA in the 7th Asian Basketball Championship held at Manila (Philippines) in 1973.
  • Represented India in the 8th Asian Basketball Championship held at Bangkok (Thailand) in 1973.
  • Represented India against USSR Team at Calcutta in 1975.
  • Represented India as Captain in Quaid-E-Azam Mohd. Ali Zinha Memorial Festival at Lahore (Pakistan) in 1976.
  • Represented Rajasthan State in National Basketball Championship from 1963 to 1968 in Junior section.
  • Represented Rajasthan State in National Basketball Championship from 1969 to 1971 and won SILVER Medal.
  • Captain of Indian Railways Basketball team in 1977-78.
  • Represented as Coach of Indian Railways Basketball Team in the World Railway Games held at Romania in 1981 and won BRONZE Medal.
